Strada del Tartufo e della Castagna - Valle del Turano

Longone Sabino

Built on a steep hill at 804 m asl, framed by Mount Aquilone’s wonderful woods. The municipality is made up of 4 towns: Longone Sabino, Roccaranieri, San Silvestro and Fassinoro, located between the rivers Velino and Turano in front of Mount Terminillo. This valley is one of the most fascinating in the Northern Sabina region, by many defined “little Switzerland” for its peculiar natural scenery. The town’s layout of walls and narrow winding alleys, as well as its first historical mentions, place the origins of the area in the Middle Ages (second half of the tenth c.). 01_tappe_scheda_longone.jpg
